Local plumbing company celebrates 50th

Wayne Maples Plumbing & Heating celebrated their 50th anniversary on Friday April 16th, 2010. The company had its start in April of 1960. After working for local plumbing companies from 1950 to 1960, Wayne Maples acquired his contractor’s license and set up shop in a small garage. Wayne went to work building his reputation as an honest and hard-working plumbing & heating contractor. During the 70’s Maples’ 5 sons joined the operation and began their training. Their customers included residential and light commercial developers and general contractors.

In 1985 four of Maples’ sons purchased and expanded the operation to include Sonoma County. From 1985 to 1997 the Maples brothers operated from both locations, growing operations to include municipal, public and healthcare projects.

Today the company is owned and operated by brothers Rodney, Roger and Dale Maples. Though the companies’ current employment numbers nearly 60, “we still operate and feel like a family” said Dale Maples. That part of their personality, in addition to their capacity, was highlighted in an article of the spring publication of American Builders Quarterly, a national trade publication.

Wayne Maples Plumbing & Heating is currently performing on several projects including the St. Joseph Hospital expansion, Loleta water pump station, HSU Schatz Energy Design complex and the remodel of the legendary Sonoma Mission Inn. Rodney Maples sums up their longetivity, “It’s easy to go in business, staying in business is the challenge. You can do that for 50 years and beyond by delivering satisfaction.”
